In this presentation Dr. Burmeister will be taking the theme of Value Sensitive Design, and applying the concepts to the context of mental health. Value sensitive design (VSD) is an interactional theory meaning that values are not embedded in the technology, nor simply transmitted as social forces, but arise contextually in the interaction between the technology and the social forces. The presentation puts forward three investigative stages (conceptual, empirical, technical) used to capture values and make design choices that accommodate them.
